Expertly led by Melbourne Water in collaboration with Living Melbourne stakeholders, the overarching objective of this report is to help encourage canopy cover on private land through having a clear understanding and way of communicating the monetary value and benefits trees provide on private property. The specific objectives of this report are to communicate these values and benefits with private property owners, developers, and other key stakeholders in a common way, and using a consistent approach. This report also identifies innovative funding and financing mechanisms that can be introduced to support sustained investment that encourages tree planting and maintenance on private land.
